Black energy

Evonik Power Saar is one of the leading energy producers in south-west Germany and operates three large hard coal-fired power plants in the Saar region. The installed electric capacity of these plants totals around 2,000 megawatts. In addition to electric power, waste heat, for example for supplying the Saar district heating network, is produced.

Together with the five hard coal-fired power plants operated by the group parent company Evonik Steag, Essen, this forms Germany's fifth largest electricity producer and second-largest generator of electricity from hard-coal.
